Many women deal with recurring yeast infections and they're most certainly no fun. You'd be hard pressed to find a woman who has never had a yeast infection- the itchy, uncomfortable feeling and accompanying vaginal discharge are all too familiar to those who have suffered through at least one.
In a nutshell, over four yeast infections in a year are considered to be recurring yeast infections.
Examine the following list and see if any of these apply to you:
Improper eating habits can lead to nutrient deficiencies that prevent your body from maintaining yeast levels in your vagina
A sugary diet is also a large contributor to recurring yeast infections- sweets, soda and other high sugar items should be minimized for best results
Unprotected sex can allow germs to accumulate and cause the balance of yeast in your vagina to propagate
Failure to dry your vagina thoroughly- a hair dryer on low heat is perfect for post shower as is two underwear changes per day instead of one
Medications of note: both birth control pills and antibiotics have been known to encourage recurring yeast infections
Diabetics are more susceptible to chronic yeast infections since their sugar levels are often so out of whack
High stress levels as in a new job can also make you more susceptible to a proliferation of yeast in your vagina- eliminate as much stress as possible
Hormonal imbalances- pregnancy and birth control pills can both be contributors
It's important to make sure your yeast infections are properly treated to reduce their chances of reoccurrence. Always be sure to contact your doctor to obtain guidance.
